Technical Articles Engineering Drawings and Specifications

We can provide you with a sales drawing of any of our products which can be used to prepare your specification. While catalog information is as accurate as possible, product improvements are made from time to time, which can result in changes to the specifications of standard relays. Therefore, we recommend that you obtain the most recent revision of our sales drawing from the factory or your Tyco Electronics sales engineer.

Engineering Samples

Often, the only way to verify that a particular relay is suitable for a specific application is to try it. We recommend that this be done early in the design cycle as it is often possible to modify a circuit to decrease or eliminate any harmful effects on the relay. In addition, we can often duplicate your circuit conditions in our test lab to verify the proper relay choice and conduct a reliability analysis, if desired.

Quality Assurance

All Kilovac relays are 100% inspected prior to shipment. Group A testing is performed to MlL-R-83725, SAE ARD 50031, or MlL-R-6106, Group A inspection. The company is certified to QS/ISO 9000 and maintains a MIL-I-45208 quality system. Additional testing, including shock, vibration, particle impact noise detection (PIND), high and low temperature, and load life, can all be performed in-house. Each relay has its own serial number and all relays are date-coded for traceability.

We recognize that quality cannot be "inspected in" but must be "built in" to our products. Therefore, we employ a number of techniques to ensure that first, we are using the best processes and, second, that processes are under control. In addition, we employ Taguchi design-of-experiment techniques, statistical process control, and Weibull reliability techniques.
