Corrosive Gas

This test is used to evaluate the corrosive effect of sulfur dioxide (SO2) or hydrogen sulfide (H2S) as a component of atmospheric pollution on the relay with particular regard to its contacts. To perform this test, the test piece is placed in a test chamber with a test atmosphere consisting of air at a temperature of 25 °C and relative humidity of 75% as well as a corrosive gas content of 1 cm3/m3 (SO2 or H2S) or 10 cm3/m3 (only for SO2).

The test severity is defined by the stress duration (e.g. 10 days).

This test is performed according to the German tentative standard, DIN V 40046, part 36 or part 37.
