Power Relay

An electrical component whose output circuit(s) is/are closed and/or is/are open, depending on application or removal of a suitable voltage to the electrically insulated input circuit.

Elementary relay; relay with no specified dynamic response
A power relay whose (switching) times are not subject to specified accuracy requirements.
Note: All the relays contained in this electronic data manual are elementary relays.

Electromechanical relay
A power relay where the switching function of the electrical output circuits results from the relative movement of mechanical parts.

Electromagnetic relay
An electromagnetic relay where the movement of the mechanical parts is produced by a magnetic field.

Semiconductor relay
A power relay where the switching function of the electrical output circuits results from electronic, magnetic, optical or other elements without any mechanical movement.
